✊ Don’t Think, Just Take Fight! – Tokyo Travel Day 8

This trip is nearly over, so today I need to begin purchasing gifts for folks. I also have tickets for a Rugby game, and fun fact, I had to write my name in Japanese to be able to purchase the tickets.

Friday April 24th, 2026

Good morning.

Sometimes in Japan it feels like I’m still in New York City.

I need to start buying gifts for folks back home.

Let’s visit the Square Enix store.

And let’s also make a trip to the local table-top roleplaying game store.

Scooped up some gachapon balls as well.

Holy crap, a Creamy Mami popup at the mall!

Well, I’ll certainly be spending money here.

Let’s eat at a Chinese place today.

Maybe it will be less stressful than a Japanese restaurant.

They have melon soda. My new favorite thing.

Why did I pick so many things!

I can’t eat all of this.

I’ll be going to a rugby game tonight, but I’m going to drop off the loot at the hotel and grab a sweet snack from the convenience store.

Okay, so konbinis get a lot of things right, but this fake soft-serve ice cream from the freezer is not good.

It’s like if you took a good ice cream, but made it hard. It tastes and feels like freezer burn. Do not suggest.

Off to rugby!

Upon entering, everyone is given a small bag of swag.

Nice seats and a nice view.

Scrum time!

Oh, there’s a musical performance as well.

I’m not sure who this is, but they have some fans in the crowd.

Oh, the name is probably One Soul.

More scrum!

Fun fact, the scrum doesn’t collapse nearly as often at this game when compared to any game I’ve ever seen before.

Our team’s not doing so hot.

I’d like to yell and chant more, but when in Japan, do as the Japanese do.

This is not a yelling or stomping crowd.

Game over.

Time for signs and guests.

Oh, and the singers again.

Goodbye mascots!

Fun game.

Now to find some loot.

Check out this food truck.

More konbini food tonight.

They have a corn soup, which is always delightful.

I got myself a hoodie for the team!

Full transparency: I bought it for the message on the back.

“Don’t think, just take fight!”

I bought this drink from a vending machine, but it looks like it might have caffeine.

Best to save it for tomorow.

Not many days left here in Tokyo.

Tomorrow I plan to visit the big temple and hopefully see the event where sumo wrestlers make babies cry.

See you then!
