๐Ÿค Micro-Adventures in NYC

Have you seen The Rocky Horror Show? We did! It was great! Oh, and there’s museums, comic books, roleplaying games, and a trip to Tokyo around the corner.

Sunday March 1st, 2026

A quick trip to the American Museum of Natural History.

One of my favorite places in City of New York.

If you ever visit New York city and come the museum, don’t get in the giant line to enter the building. Enter from the North side. There’s multiple ways into the building, but for some reason everyone gets into the big line.

I wanted to see what was behind the stuffed animal displays, since someone left a door open.

I couldn’t see what was back there, and I wasn’t going to walk in to investigate, so I took a picture to see if I could brighten it and see anything.

This plan did not work.

We also perused around a Barnes & Noble.

Debated getting this for the partner.

Old manga found!

Hell yeah!

The trivia team decided to mix it up by going to a music bingo game tonight.

The venue is The Motel No Tell, which is not a hotel, but is instead a bar which occasionally hosts music bingo nights.

There are several disco balls here.

Covering faces since I didn’t ask for permission from the friends in this image.

Here’s what our bingo cards look like.

I still get excited when I’m near Silvercup Studios in Queens as this is where King Kong is wrecking the city during the race scene in Ready Player One.

Saturday March 7th, 2026

Today we coffee and comic book.

And I am not wrong again, fucko.

This panel made me smile.

Here are some fun views from the city this day.

While out, I bought a new fountain pen and used it to write a postcard to my friend Tony in Michigan.

Sunday March 8th, 2026

Speaking of Ready Player One, I grabbed my movie themed bag from the closet and guess what I found inside of it?

An arcade token!

How apropriate.

I also went to a pen and paper RPG event here in Astoria where we played a game called Street Magic that is very similar to Microscope.

It’s a game where you create a civilization together as a group by taking turns recording pieces of the civilization on note cards, and placing them in the timeline where they belong.

Also, the host of this game had amazing fridge magnets the last time I was here playing a game, and they showed me how to make my own.

I took this picture of mine to share with them during this visit.

Otmeal problems.

Tonight we are going to a preview screening of the movie Slanted at Museum of the Moving Image.

The director and members of the cast are here for a Q&A as well.

And this lovely postcard has also arrived.

Oh, about the movie.

It’s a horror flick.

Here’s the blurb from IMDB: An insecure Chinese-American teenager undergoes experimental surgery to appear white, hoping to secure the prom queen title and peer acceptance.

Let’s hide behind cats today.

Saturday March 14th, 2026

Heck yeah! Today the 99 cent comics are half priced!

Time to load up, baybeeeee!

And then we’ll eat at May Kaidee.

This is a lively place.

I’m pretty sure Mae was teaching a cooking class in the next room.

Very spirited.

Delightful.

And of course, a postcard

I needed to tell Tony about the half priced 99 cent comic books.

This is a picture of Lauri bored to sleep of me talking about discount comic books.

Our local corner store was telling me they got a new mango ice cream that’s really delicious, so I agreed to buy one and give it a shot.

I am ready!

Om.

It’s amazing!

I don’t even like mango, but this is a perfect ice cream!

Monday March 16th, 2026

Time to mail comic books to Heather in Michigan.

This is where I deliver them at the post office.

You set them in this package spot with the doors on both sides.

Wednesday March 18th, 2026

Oatmeal problems.

After two failed attempts at making instant oatmeal in the fridge, I now use the tea kettle to heat water and pour it over the oatmeal, now.

Lesson learned.

Keanu is bored to sleep with my oatmeal stories.

But Keanu! I figured out how to make it without making a mess! Aren’t you proud of me?

Keanu is not proud of me.

Thursday March 19th, 2026

Penny.

Keanu.

Friday March 20th, 2026

Remus.

Times two.

Saturday March 21st, 2026

Today we are seeing Project Hail Mary.

We’re catching it at an Alamo Draft House in Manhattan.

I haven’t been to this one, yet.

It’s a cool one.

On, and Project Hail Mary is fantastic.

I’m not crying, you’re crying!

Monday March 23rd, 2026

Do you ever just decide to buy something stupid?

While sober?

I did.

I bought a mullet wig.

But the finger guns were free.

Tuesday March 24th, 2026

Sometimes I clean out from under the dresser and sometimes from under the fridge.

The cats tend to lose toys under both.

Here’s the clean out collection for today.

Penny really goes crazy for playing with bottle caps.

Wednesday March 25th, 2026

Remus “U think I can’t do your work?!”

“I do not wish to do ur work.”

Saturday March 28th, 2026

X-Men comics!

And goofy selfies while waiting for the train!

And looking at junk journaling books at the store.

A YEAR OF THEM!

Sunday March 29th, 2026

The Rocky Horror Show.

“Don’t you mean ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show?”

No. That’s the movie.

We’re seeing the live Broadway show The Rocky Horror Show.

I’m not sure what to do about audience participation, though.

We were told not to bring props like rice and toilet paper.

Oh. There’s signs.

They’re not super clear, but I’m pretty sure they don’t want us yelling “Asshole!” during the show.

The banister is lucky!
No it’s not, she has termites!

Okay, there. Audience participation out of the way before the show starts.

Fantastic show. Delightful.

There were a few moments where folks couldn’t resist audience participation and the cast made it a point to look around confusedly when it happened.

A bit awkward. I wish they would have said what they expected before the show or something, but it was super fun!

The person playing Frankfurter is a-ma-zing!

This would be a good spot to end the blog, but we’re nearly through with the month.

Monday March 30th, 2026

Oh, and remember all of those oatmeal messes?

I took out my anger on the oatmeal box.

I turned it into a postcard to send to Tony

I was telling him about how I found a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) that I’ve been enjoying.

Tuesday March 31st, 2026

I also sent Tony this postcard.

I prepared this postcard sometime last year.

I can tell because the postcard stamp is last year’s style.

And this postcard is being sent to Japan!

I shared that I plan to visit Tokyo, soon.

I hope a cult doesn’t attempt to recruit me while I’m there…

March was a relaxing month.

The weather is warming up, but it’s still indoor days.

The big vacation to Tokyo is right around the corner.

Life is looking good.

See you in the next post, my friend.
