It’s the countdown to Tokyo. It’s the coffee quest. It’s the craving for gaming. It’s television antennas and plumbing. Is it weird that television antennas and plumbing is the unusual part? Let’s adventure!

I have this exact same toy…
The cat’s don’t care for it.
Did they throw our toy out of the window?

I have joined a tabletop gaming group for Saturdays. There are some super cool folks in the mix there. Lots of creatives and techies.
So we must take the bus posthaste!

And then the train.
[No image. You know what a train looks like.]
AND THEN WE SHALL GAME!

I may have run out of ADHD meds.
This is why there is a Red Bull.
Back home the kitchen sink is beginning to drip.
There was a very small hole from a dent in a pipe in it before.
I just wrapped it in a bunch of duct tape and sent a text message to the building owner.
He never got back to me, but the dripping from the tiny hole wasn’t really an issue, so I forgot about it until today.
Time to take off the tape and see the damage. Um.
The next photo is a little bit gross.
I’ll push it down the page a bit.
With some nonsense text.
In case you want to scroll past all of this to avoid the gross pipe image.
.
.
.
Okay, the coast is clear.
You made it this far?
You’re brave.
But are you brave enough to view THIS PIPE HOLE!?

Okay, maybe that doesn’t look that gross, but….

This is what it looked like when I pulled the hair out.

We put in a more urgent request this time.

Let’s take another quick trip to the American Museum of Natural History!

There are still parts of this museum that we haven’t seen.

Like this part that looks like a set from the move Running Man.
I think.
Or one of those other late 70s science fiction movies.

They also had a painting of me sleeping there for some reason.

Back at home the cats do not care for our human art or our sense of humor.

But they are concerned by strange noises in the apartment hallway.

I’m about to share with you something that is a complete surprise for me, but may be normal for you.
Or maybe it’s a surprise for yo as well.
Let’s find out.

Television.
Over the air waves.
With an antenna.
Remember when television made the digital switch and you had to buy a digital antenna to watch it?
I don’t know about you, but I skipped all of that.
Until today.
And holy crap regular over-the-air TV is still a thing and it’s kind of awesome.
I’ve been paying for whatever CBS’s app is called twice-a-year when Survivor is on so that we could watch it live.
Now I can just watch it live without paying a subscription fee.
It seems so obvious now…
But don’t you even think about making fun of me.
Can you do this with your bottom lip?

No. No you can’t.
But you looked funny trying.
Zing.

A murder of cats.

Were they having a conversation?
Oh, and it’s tabletop game day again.
Some busses, some trains, some foot walking.

And we’re there.

Holy crap, it’s the middle of April?
I’ll be leaving for Japan soon.
By the way, reader, are you a coffee drinker?
I’ve been having trouble finding a “brand” for coffee.
There are plenty of great flavors out there, but they all run out sometimes and so I’ve been trying out some sample kits from a few different brands as my current supply of Alma Farms Natural Process coffee is almost out.
After trying about a dozen different varieties from two different brands, I landed on this.

Ardi Party from creature Coffee Co.
I wrote my reviews in permanent marker on each of the bags.
Future Levi here. While I was in Japan a friend of ours came to visit and he sampled all of the coffees and agreed with all of my marker notes. It’s nice to feel validated.
Oh, and if you don’t like coffee, I didn’t either until I watched this video.
This video led me down the path of learning to find my coffee profile and brewing method.
I use an AeroPress with light/medium roast coffee using the Hoffman brewing method (2 minute steep, swirl, 30 second steep, slow press).
That’s a whole other video about testing various brewing methods with an AeroPress.
Also the AeroPress is great for camping.
I need to buy a portable coffee grinder again.
I need to go camping again, too.
Let’s go camping again this year.
Maybe on a ferry to Alaska. (This is really an idea that I’m toying with right now).
Not sure why I took this comic book picture.

And not sure why Remus is getting comfy on my backpack of clothes packed for Japan.

The trip to Japan is becoming real.
I leave in two days.
Thursday April 16th, 2026
It’s two days later and time to fly to Japan!

But let’s save these stories for the next post.
See you then.
