Thank you for joining me for more adventures. In this post we’ll be chatting about Central Park, sourdough bread, Steam games, crypto currency, a weirdly skinny escalator, the Beastie Boys, eBay dreams, magazine subscriptions, and of course postcards.

This morning I sent a postcard to my pal Tony discussing eBay.
I’ve found a lot of great items at thrift stores in rural parts of the Midwest.
I often think of how fun it would be to just have a little on-the-go eBay store.
Imagine having a nice little hybrid car pulling a teardrop sleeper behind it.
Travel around the country picking through thrift stores and listing items on eBay.
Use the back seat of the car for storage and have a centrally located storage unit to hold stock.
Or maybe make it a little bit bigger.
Perhaps a truck and trailer are the way to go.
They make those campers that go over a pickup truck bed.
And with a medium sized trailer there’s enough room to hold items being sold.
How many items would I have to resell in order to live that camping life on the road and pay for fuel and repairs?

I love having an Instant Pot.

It is a great addition to a kitchen to craft many an affordable meal from air frying French fries to quickly cooking beans for burritos.

A wonderful item to have around.
My partner and I have been setting aside various books that we’ve read or no longer have interest in.
I thought we were planning to take them to a bookstore to sell, but it turns out there’s a place in town where you donate the books and you take some pickles when you leave.

Judging by the runes on the cellar entrance, they likely have an evil entity locked up down there.

Pickles gathered.

Y’know?
When I took this picture of my sourdough starter next to my coffee, I did not realize how much they look alike.

I have been making sourdough bread lately.
I buy flour in bulk which makes bread super cheap to make, but yeast is always an issue.
Sometimes it’s old.
Sometimes I don’t add the right temperature of water which kills the yeast.
I love making bread, but keeping fresh yeast around is time consuming and a big part of the bread price.
So Lauri was kind enough to get some sourdough starter from a co-worker which I am keeping alive and making bread.

I plan to also buy a bread box.
We’ve been using the Dutch oven to store bread, but it turns soft in there.
I have a doctor’s visit today.
I figured it’s better to show up too early than too late and I’m glad that I brought my postcards with me because there was a bit of a wait due to my early arrival.

This is one of the homemade postcards from an Apple Jacks box.
It was a pain in the ass to get a doctor’s visit here in NYC and this is what I discussed with my friend Tony on this card.

Today I purchased some Steam games.
Tainted Grail – The Fall of Avalon

And Cassette Beasts

I have officially run out of crypto winnings to pay for more video games on Steam.
I was part of a team that would play crypto games and alternate reality games for prizes and we’d split the winnings.
I just kind of sat on the crypto forever because converting it into cash requires paying taxes and stuff on it, so what I did instead is I spent it.
On steam gift cards.
I no longer have enough crypto to buy Steam gift cards.
I don’t think my team is interested in pursuing any crypto games at the moment either.

Another postcard to Tony!
Behold the three-dimensional beaver.

This is one of those cards where if you tilt it left and right, the picture looks 3D.
Had a chat about the camping road trip that I’m currently planning.
Spent some time in Central Park today with Lauri and Andoni.

I was not aware there was an obelisk in Central Park.
This was my first time stopping at Belvedere Castle as well.

Oh, and we rode on the merry-go-round!

I took pictures of Lauri struggling to mount the horse.

We stopped to use the bathroom at 30 Rock and we may have discovered the skinniest escalator to exist!

And then we grabbed some ice cream.

The Tenement Museum!
Today we are taking the Family Owned tour.
I won’t spoil the tour by telling you about it, but I will share some pictures.
Apologies for the bluriness.

Speaking of blurry pictures, tonight we went to see Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Class starring Hugh Jackman.

Oops. Botched that photo.
While waiting in the lobby I noticed they had a nice mug from Dead Outlaw.

Afterwards we had a nice dinner.

The food in New York City is amazing.

Sometimes I see things when I’m out that I very much want, but not at retail price.
When this happens I take a picture and look it up on eBay later.
That’s where this picture came from.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a lovely store that deserves support, and I assure you I buy plenty here.
But sticker books can get pricey and so this will go on the “If I can find it discounted on the internet.” list.
While in Brooklyn we took a walk to the park named after one of the Beastie Boys.

This is that multi-layer road that is supposed to fall apart some day.
And here it is in all of its glory: Adam Yauch Park.

It is a lovely neighborhood park.
We also found a magician with an interesting advertisement campaign.

But it is getting late.
Time to head home.

So I ordered the breadbox that I mentioned previously.

It looks amazing.
I’m not sure if it’s working right or if I understand bread boxes, but I’m giving it a shot!

Looking at these pictures make me realize how tall I am.
Back to postcards!
If you need to write on a glossy surface like those of a the back of a cheap postcard, this is the best pen that I have found for this.

It can still smear and spread, but it takes significantly less time to dry than other pens and markers that I have tried.
On regular postcards I use Sharpie-brand fine-point markers.
This postcard came from a restaurant.
It was on the clipboard that came with the bill.

Thank you MLBK for the postcard.
This one has gone to Michigan.

I also have these amazing postcards from the mammoth dig site in Waco, Texas.

They turned their bad reviews into merch.
How cool is that?

I need to head down to the post office to deliver a video game that has sold and I also need to drop off the rent, so time to head outside on a short trip.

I love that I have my choice of post office to drop off at.
One of those envelopes is filled with a check for $100.
Remember writing checks?
There’s a physical booklet subscription that I want to subscribe to and so I sent a check as using PayPal would have fees and I wouldn’t get as much content.
ALARUMS AND EXCURSIONS is the um… Magazine?
I said booklet before.
Zine?
It’s probably best described as a zine.
Check out their website: https://conchord.org/xeno/aande.html
I can’t wait to get one of these in the mail.
I love receiving fun things in the mail.
Tomorrow I leave for a three-day camping trip.
I have packed my bags and I’m ready to go.
My first camping trip taken via trains and busses.

Wish me luck!
