๐ŸŽค The Knocks x Dragonette x Aquaria

Welcome adventurer. I did not expect to see two of my favorite bands in the middle of December in New York City, but it happened. I also have some postcarding, gaming, and comic book adventures to share with you.

Today I have received a lovely postcard from Czechia.

I am the same age as the sender’s child.

On this postcard the sender has told me a bit about their child and their grandchildren.

Check out the sweet stamps on this one.

Tonight is the concert for Dragonette and The Knocks.

I have been looking forward to this concert for months.

Haha, here is a funny picture that someone shared in the Discord chat server for an online game that I’m playing.

The eggs typically get picked up by new players and cooked into food.

On that note, this game, Project: Gorgon, has now been fully released and three additional servers have opened.

I suspect it will be many years before the player count is low enough to have a view like this again.

Now that I’m in my mid 40s, I don’t want to be the person trying to get to the front of a concert. I’m tall and I can see over the crowd, so I’ll find a nice place in the back.

Or…

Right here along the side, since there’s this fenced-off area over here.

Yes. This should be a good view.

I have a chat with a couple of guys over here while we wait for the show to start.

Swap a few adventure stories and take some notes about places to visit that they have to offer.

On that note, please always feel free to make suggestions in the comments. Especially if the suggestion is in or near New York City.

Back to the show.

Dragonette!

With The Knocks!

And Aquaria!

You know how a lot of bands have one or two great songs, but the rest are skippable?

Both Dragonette and The Knocks are all hits all the time.

I love every one of their songs.

I’m so excited to see them merge their powers to create more new and amazing music.

Before I spam this blog entry with more pictures from the show, here’s one of the songs they did together.

Hell yeah! Keytar time.

Man, this next one makes me feel like I’m living in the future.

This is the song that turned me on to Dragonette:

The first time I heard this I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

The second time I heard it I was like “I remember this song… I kind of like it.”

The third time I heard it, I was jamming and added it to my playlist which led me to looking into other Dragonette songs.

And there’s a lot.

And many many many of them are now on my playlist.

Truly an amazing show.

I will see Dragonette or The Knocks any time they’re coming through.

And now to get out of this place…

I don’t want to push through the crowd, so I’ll wait for the first wave to all get out.

Even at the end of the line it’s still rough.

Everyone is trying to get their coats back from coat check.

Because it’s cold a.f. in New York City in December.

Man. I love a good show. Makes you feel alive.

See if you can tell what this postcard is of.

It’s Disney’s Snow White.

I can see it when I hear that, but otherwise I would think it was just an artistic fog card.

The conversation on the back is about the weather changing.

Opposite to our weather, of course. It’s summertime in December in Australia.

Today is Keanu’s visit to the vet.

She’s not happy about it.

She is a trooper and takes it very well, though.

Wednesday December 17th, 2025

Let’s get on postcrossing.com and send a postcard out today.

This postcard is of Monticello (the building on the back of a nickel) and is being sent to Finland.

I share stories about my visit from September, 2025.

The following postcard is being sent to my friend Tony in Michigan.

My theory about this wild goose refuge is that someone was super into feeding ducks and wanted to turn it into a tax break.

There is a gaming meet up at Q.E.D. in Astoria, and today I will be there!

Good people. Good games. Good times.

If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s worth a visit.

The following photo is at the base of a bridge.

There’s a ladder to go down under the bridge?

Man. I want to go down there.

Not enough to risk getting arrested, but I am so curious about what is under this bridge.

An archive? A troll? A bunch of pipes? Drugs? A small studio apartment for $2,700 a month?

I suppose I’ll never know.

Lately I’ve been trying to monitor my mental health and make improvements where I can.

One problem that I’ve noticed is that I’m getting “popcorn brain” from watching so much YouTube.

I don’t think it’s as bad as flipping through Tik Tok all day, but it’s not much better.

In an attempt to wean myself off of this video morphine and to spend less time on the internet I have been reading comic books lately.

This started as subscribing to an X-Men comic that was being mailed to my apartment, but today while we were out with friends seeing a movie and having a nice lunch, I mention that I am planning on going to a comic book store and asking if they wanted to join.

They ask me if I mean the Midtown Comics Astoria outlet store that is nearby and my answer is “No.”

But then I think about it and realize that this place is only open on Saturdays and Sundays which is why I haven’t been before, so I follow up with “But let’s go there anyway. I’m curious about this place.”

Future Levi here to say that this is an impacting moment in my life.

Wow. What a store.

This place is loaded to the gills with discounted comics, most at 99 cents and sometimes these low-priced comics are discounted even further.

My plan: Buy a small stack of cheap comics and if I enjoy them, I’ll try to find more in the series.

Here’s the first haul.

Since the new season of X-Men ’97 still won’t be out for a while, some X-Men comics should tide me over until then, no?

Thank you for spending time with me this week and may your adventures also be amazing.
