๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ SHOWS! SHOWS! SHOWS! (Time Machine) SHOWS!

Summary: Jon Stewart, Ari Aster, Weird Explorer, Keanu (our cat), a time machine, don’t steal the wi-fi, Beetlejuice.

Keanu wonders if she would be effected by a zombie virus.

I know that the Museum of the Moving Image often brings in movie directors, but there’s no way they’re bringing in Ari Aster to Beau is Afraid tonight.

Well, we have tickets.

Maybe he’ll be there.

And if he’s not, we can use this to fix the timeline.

As we approach the theater, my eyes lock onto someone.

I know them.

Who is that?

An actor?

Oh! It’s Weird Explorer!

I always want to call him “Weird Fruit Explorer” because he’s on a mission to try as many fruits as possible, but that’s not his YouTube name.

Highly recommend.

Sub this man’s channel.

I do not say “Hi.” to him.

Partially because I am a chicken and I don’t know what to say to him and partially because I am focused on getting into the theater and getting our tickets sorted.

Before the movie plays a speaker comes out and asks how many people have seen the movie.

About half of the theater raises their hands.

From behind the curtain Ari Aster, the movie’s director, peeks his head out to see how many hands are raised.

The host notices and gives him crap for spoiling the reveal surprise, and Ari Aster explains how he really wanted to see how many hands were up.

He explains that the movie is not for everyone, but the ones who like it will really like it.

My partner Lauri is one of these people.

She loves this movie.

I am not one of these people.

I respect Ari Aster and his movies.

They are not for me.

Monday October 6th, 2025

Mondays are Jon Stewart days.

I’ve already completed my adventure-list item “Be a member of a studio audience.” when I went to a taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, but it couldn’t hurt to do it again, right?

We wait in line outside, then we go downstairs and wait in line for the bathroom, and then we head back upstairs and we wait in a room for the audience seating to begin.

There is a VIP room that has snacks and chairs.

The rest of us must play games on our phones.

Luckily they have Wi-Fi.

Don’t steal their Wi-Fi now that you’ve seen the password!

Or do.

I’m not your boss.

Oh! On the way here they had one of those pull-tab advertisement things.

For Bat boy!

I’ll call the number while we wait.

It’s a little advertisement for the returning Broadway show.

My partner Lauri and I want to see this, but we haven’t bought tickets, yet.

Waiting area selfie!

They’re pretty chill about photos here.

The big thing is that the phone is fully off and stowed away before the show starts.

Before then, pictures and videos are chill.

So I took some.

I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house, but I’m really happy with where we’re seated.

As is custom, folks are able to ask the host questions before the show starts and despite warnings not to ask weird questions, people ask weird questions.

I’m kidding. The questions were pretty good, actually. A cool crowd at this show.

We had a lovely time and Jon Stewart is delightful in person.

That man has energy.

Tuesday October 7th, 2025

Tuesdays are trivia night!

I should take pictures.

Tonight we only have three players out of the maximum allowed team size of six.

We did not win, but we’re focused on playing consistently so that our total score for the season puts us at the top.

Wo do win sometimes, but only when we have four or more players.

Wednesday October 8th, 2025

I don’t think we’ve seen enough shows this week.

Let’s go to another!

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

First I should take a photo of my roleplaying game books.

I love roleplaying game books.

And next we should go to some bookstores before the show starts.

Cats with jobs?

Delightful.

Be more Japan?

All right. I’ll do it!

I took these pictures to look up these books later and decide if I want to buy them.

I have decided not to buy them.

I’m sure they’re great books, but this method of taking a picture and deciding later helps me avoid impulse purchases.

One point for Levi. No points for capitalism.

But now we must shake shake shake Senora.

Also, it’s opening night!

There’s a mini-poster waiting at our seat for us.

Loads of Beetlejuice fans here tonight.

The line went around the building and there were camera crews recording for something.

It was a fantastic show.

There is a dog at the corner store who is requesting belly rubs.

Tonight Sir Puppers, your wish is granted.

Dogs make stupid wishes.

I’m kidding, I’m kidding!

What would a good dog wish be?
