This week we have tickets to David Byrne. This week also contains postcard day, so I’ll mail out a bunch of postcards across the planet. We spend time visiting the Anne Frank exhibition that is typically only available outside of the U.S. and also I buy nunchucks. A perfectly safe thing to do.

Sometimes I play the Magnum P.I. opening theme song while swinging around a sock like nunchucks.
I’ve done this enough times that I recently though to myself “I should just buy foam nunchucks. I have fun doing this and I bet I can find them for a good price on eBay.”
I gave into this thought.

I can confirm that owning nunchucks is awesome.
I can also confirm that swinging them around wildly while the Magnum P.I. theme song is playing is double awesome.
But I’ve gotten ahead of myself, we did some stuff today.
Our primary goal today is to replace our old IKEA folding chairs that we’ve been using at our home-office desks.
Our current chairs have cracks in them that are growing and are big enough now that they pinch the back of my shirt when I stand up.
It is time.
But we don’t have a car now and the IKEA is not nearby.
So today we learn how difficult or easy it will be to bring home IKEA furniture on busses and trains.
Off to Brooklyn!

I mostly know Silvercup Studios as the place King Kong smashes up the road in the Ready Player One movie.
This sign, specifically.

But I am getting disctracted.
And this will continue when we reach IKEA because they have free stuff for us.
Nice.

They also gave us tickets for a free slice of pie, but that even will not start for three hours and I’m not interested in hanging out an an IKEA for three hours for a slice of pie.
We do successfully buy two new office chairs for a reasonable price that are not fully put together which hopefully makes them easier to carry on busses and trains.

Spoiler: they do.
We are successful in carrying hone these Swedish furniture parts.
If you scroll back up to the nunchucks picture, you can see one of the assembled chairs in the background.

Today I send a postcard to my friend Tony in Michigan about visiting Mammoth Cave national park.

Today we are also visiting the Anne Frank exhibition.

What an exhibition.
The line to get in is long, the place is packed, but the pacing of the audio tours is just right.
It keeps the crowd moving at a good pace.
This exhibition is typically in The Netherlands, but if you ever get a chance to see it there or anywhere else, it is worth a visit.
The brutal honesty of Anne Frank and the horrors of Nazism that she faced are a warning that we all must remember so that we are not doomed to repeat these atrocities.
Seeing the size of the living area puts into perspective the struggles that Anne Frank had in her final days before being murdered by Nazis.

At the Randy Feltface show that I went to recently I bought an extra sticker to send to my pal Tony in Michigan who is also a fan.
I sent it inside of a notecard (which I forgot to take a picture of).
Please accept this picture from the back of the envelope with a corn dog sticker as a replacement.

There is also a bookmark for Tony in this envelope.

Today my partner Lauri and I have tickets to see David Byrne.

Penny standing on Lauri’s keyboard and making the computer talk is unrelated.
Funny story about how Lauri got into David Byrne.
When we used to live in Austin, Texas we once bought tickets to Austin City Limits (ACL) so that Lauri could see a performance by Paul McCartney.
Lauri asked me who I was interested in seeing and I said “I’m glad we’ll be camping at this stage, because the performance before Paul McCartney is David Byrne. I really like Talking Heads. It will be nice to see David Byrne perform.”
Lauri absolutely loved the performance and was hooked.
She went on a deep dive of all of his work and is now a huge fan.
And tonight, his new tour is in NYC.
Cheers.

What a show!
And what a venue!

This is Radio City Music Hall, by the way.
I should have said that before.
Per usual, when working our way home to Queens, we stop by 30 Rockefeller and use the restrooms.
They’re putting up the ice skating rink tonight.

Today is postcard day on postcrossing.com.
First I’ll send a postcard to Germany.

This is of the Machicomoco state park in Hayes, Virginia and is my favorite state park that I’ve visited.
I told this to the recipient of this postcard, too.
This postcard is going to Taiwan and I share a story about how I made burgers for my wife and I tonight. Specifically about the differences in how we like our burgers. Mine has cheese, hers has relish.

The next postcard is going to Israel and is a postcard of the unicorn tapestry at The Met.
I share the recent story about kayaking in an abandoned and flooded mine.

The next postcard that I send goes to Loki the Wolf in Dublin, Ireland.
It is a postcard of our cat Penny being naughty. I share some of her stories of naughtiness and that she is a FIP survivor on this card.

This postcard is off to Mexico City, Mexico. I discuss living in NYC without a car and the abundance of pizza that can be found here.

The next postcard is being shipped off to Belgium. Maybe David Byrne is just on my mind from the recent concert, but I send a David Byrne postcard and share stories about journaling and blogging.

The final postcard is being sent to Serbia and I share stories about my recent visit to Monticello (the building on the back of U.S. Nickels).

It has been another fantastic week here in New York City… Except for the times I hit myself in the crotch with the nunchucks.
