In my teens I listened to the Shonen Knife album Rock Animals.

I never thought that one day I would have the opportunity to see them live, but tonight we have tickets to the show.

I got a cassette tape.

For the life of me I do not remember where my cassette tape player is, but I will find it.

An amazing show and one of the benefits of living in NYC.

There are loads of amazing bands that may only play one or two shows in the U.S. and when this happens, one of those shows is usually in New York.

I want comic books.

Well, what I want is single-issues of manga, but they don’t make these any more. Only graphic novels.

So I have learned to appreciate American comic books recently.

As the internet turns into algorithm slop I find myself returning to physical media more and more.

On my adventure list I have an unfinished adventure to rent a DVD through the mail like Netflix used to do.

With there being so many streaming services and all of them cranking up the price while shrinking the selection I’ve given up on any streaming subscriptions, even YouTube which I had for many years.

There are so many great movies that just don’t stream anywhere and I certainly can’t afford to subscribe to them all even if they did.

But enough old man yelling at the internet.

I bought some comics.

Saturday Morning Adventures: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I mean… I’m not going to not-buy this.

If it’s good, I’ll keep an eye out for more.

I need to set up a pull list at a comic book shop.

The discounts haven’t been great at any of the places I’ve been to so I haven’t followed through, yet.

There’s a place in Knoxville that offered me a pretty sweet deal to use their pull list and shipping plan, but it would a large order to get the free shipping. I don’t think I’m ready to make a big investment in this, yet.

I’ll work my way up.

I really enjoyed reading comic books while camping and I’m trying to find other great series outside of X-Men.

I didn’t expect to find a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic based on the 90s show, though. It always felt like the comics and shows were entirely different stories until now.

This is nice.

January 1st, 2025 Future Levi here again. I’m glad that I started working on this blog today. I’ve been getting more into comic books lately and I had forgotten about the comic book above. I have added this series to the “want to buy” section of my comic book tracking app.
