New York City summer is officially upon us and my partner and I have tickets to Weird Al this weekend! I’m looking forward to sending a bunch of postcards (as always), but I am also hoping to complete my copy of Wreck This Journal, soon. Let’s do this!
Hello blog reader.
I’ve been waiting for you.
I believe you have been enjoying these posts and it seems only fair to me that you pay.
Send tuna and Churu to 1 Remus Street, Apartment, New York City, New York.
I will allow these posts to continue if you do this.

Oops. Remus must have sat on the keyboard again.
Haha, I’ll leave her little message there.
It’s cute.

I have nearly competed my second copy of Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith and in preparation for one of the pages I have purchased a potato.
Well, a bag of potatoes, but I only need one for the book.
The page in question is to be wrecked by making a stamp out of food.
Um. I guess I can just draw a shape on the potato and cut it out.

Y’know, I bought an ink pad a long time ago in preparation for this.
It’s been at least a year.
Time flies when you’re procrastinating.
Am I right?
But no time for procrastination today!
It is potato-stamp day.
Make the cuts, Levi.

Nice.
Just a few more.

Oh. I should bring the ink pad in here, too.

Perfect.
Gently press the potato into the ink pad like a perfectly normal person would.

And onto the page it goes!

Nice.
I bet I can use those sliced off bits of the potato to make little shooting-star streaks.

And a little moon, too.
Why not?
Another successful page.
Why did this one take me so long?
My younger brother sent me a postcard today.
I recognize the stickers as one of the ones that I sent to him on a card.

The black and white stickers are ones that he printed at home.

Today I am sending a postcrossing postcard to Armenia.
Behold the postcard of an image from 1990 of many stuffed animals on a NYC building fire escape.

I shared some book suggestions on this postcard.
Now that I think about it, I have the address of a librarian in The Netherlands that I’ve been meaning to send book suggestions to.
I’ve been putting that off for a long time as well.
Maybe this is the week.
Since I have received a postcard from my younger brother, it seems fitting to send another back to him.

This is an advertisement postcard that I think I picked up at a Manga Spot store. Maybe the one here in NYC or maybe from one in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I forget.
The back of the card was not a nice mailable kind of card.
I had to cover it in a shipping label sticker for a place to write on.
I like how the Washi tape goes with the coloring on this.

Maybe I should read Demon Lord 2099.
Had a chat about manga on this postcard.
The next postcard that I sent out today went to my friend Jerry in Nebraska.

On this postcard I told a joke which I will tell you now, but I did find out a twist about this joke later which I will tell you after the joke.
The joke goes “I had just moved to Astoria when I was walking down the street and I saw a guy peeing on the side of the building and I said to myself ‘I thought this was a good neighborhood.’ To which the peeing man replied “No, it’s a great neighborhood!”
I have come to learn that this was not a joke.
This really happened.
The next postcard goes to my friend Tony in Michigan.

It is made from a La Croix box and on this postcard I used my first Dungeons & Dragons sticker from a sticker book that I bought on eBay.

Check out these stickers.

I was testing if putting a little pokey hole in the side of a box would make it more appealing for the cats.
It did not.
Don’t get me wrong.
The cats love boxes and they loved this box, too.
But the hole did not add any new playfulness or longevity to a standard box.
I will continue to do further box/cat research in the future.

I forgot to write down notes, but I’m ninety-nine percent sure that this one went to Tony in Michigan.
I drew a wizard tower on it.

I need to make better brick marks that reflect a more accurate size.
Cat/box testing is continuing as planned.
No significant changes in box behavior due to small holes in front and top.

The cats have been extra suspicious lately.
Look at Penny.

Here is an image of my current pen and paper role-playing games collection.

Tonight we have tickets to see Weird Al at Maddison Square Garden!
Nice seats.

I’m not the guy who will film or live stream concerts that no one will ever watch, but I will take the occasional photo like I did here.
The opening act was a clown.

I did not know what to make of the clown, but their performance was certainly interesting.
Al and his team of performers really nailed it.
This show was tons of fun.

It even came with a Star Wars themed encore.

During a costume change I wrote a postcard to Tony in Michigan.
I forgot to take a picture.
Or maybe that’s the postcard I took a photo of above in advance?
Probably not.
But maybe.
I’m right about some things.
Sometimes.
Sunday July 13th, 2025
Sometimes the things I add to my adventure list fall right into my lap.
One previous example was that I should try frisbee golf, and then one day there was a Texas-park-ranger-hosted event teaching how to play.
It was free and I didn’t need to buy frisbees to play.
A similar thing has happened this week.
There is an event for tie dying here in Astoria, today.
It is for a suggested donation of $10.
You can bring something to tie dye, or they will provide a bandanna.
We decided to bring reusable grocery bags.
Fold them like a fan.

Rubber band them together.
Pour/drip dye onto them.

Shove them in a bag and forget about them for 24 hours

Lauri and I are cool cats.
We can take these tips home.
But seriously.
What’s with the cats this week?
They’re being weird.
Keanu example:

Keanu says “Till next time, friendos.”
