Today my partner Lauri and I traveled deeper into Queens today to play tabletop games with friends.
Tabletop games with friends is always a good time.

I send a lot of postcards to my friend Tony in Michigan, but I have been trying to branch out more lately.
My old friend Tommy, who is also in Michigan, sends nice responses when postcards arrive.

This postcard is of a museum that I visited during my last trip to Michigan.
The folks that work at this museum are fantastic people.
They were kind enough to share so many details about the various items that I ended up asking for a tour and they kindly agreed.
Absolutely delightful. Please visit the Plymouth Historical Museum if you’re ever near the Detroit area.
I forgot to write down the name of the vegan restaurant we went to, but we had amazing food and I took pictures.
Edit: This is Le Basque on Union Square in Manhattan.

Note to self: Take more pictures during visit and also write down the places being visited.

Today my plan is to visit the campsite that I have rented at the end of May, but unfortunately I had too much coffee late in the day yesterday.
I should have been up very early in the morning to complete this.
It is not an urgent task and I did not buy any train tickets in advance, so Lauri and I are changing our plans to visit Coney Island.
We have been here in New York City for nearly a year and have never been.

Oh, and I prepared three more postcards on Postcrossing.com. I sent these from a mailbox here in Coney Island.

As someone who grew up far away from the ocean or islands it is easy to forget that places without trees, such as beaches, can be windy.
Today is about 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius), but the high wind speeds are making it unbearable to explore the area.
This is clearly a place that is only open during warmer weather, so we are cutting this trip short and heading back into the city.

We will drown our sorrows in Taiyaki.

I love taiyaki.

Today with postcrossing I am sending a postcard to Malaysia.

This postcard one using a photograph that I took of the Waco Mammoth National Monument in Waco, Texas.
Never in my life did I think I would get to visit an active dig site, but there was one within a short driving distance of me in Austin, Texas the whole time.
On this postcards I shared the story of my visit to this location.

The cats were being creeps today.
Please see the photo evidence below.

Today we are going to see the Broadway musical Operation Mincemeat!

I will not spoil the plot of the play, but I can say that it is based on a historical event during World War II.

This play is amazing.
The effort that went into writing and performing every second of this musical was clearly thought out in detail.

And I have this mystery postcard.

I did not list it in my notes, and it does not show up on my postcrossing sent list. Also why would I send a postcard in another language?
Oh…
This is a received postcard.
This explains why it is in French…
This postcards if from postcrossing as a received postcard from Malaysia.
A wonderful recounting of a trip to see this Holiday on Ice.
I also have this picture in my phone.

This is what we call a “Jank-adilla.”
It’s a quesadilla, but made with American cheese and microwaved.
When I was eighteen years old and roommates with my pal Tony we lived off of these.

Today is the day we being a new process of sorting through my Steam games.
I have loads of games that came from bundles or from free giveaways and I really try to make it a point to play every game that own, but there are some genres that I am not interested in.
Point-and-click adventures, for one.
To clean up my game list I found a website that will pick a random game from your Steam library for you: https://pickaga.me/
I then play the game and take a few notes and I leave these notes as a comment on the game.
I’m not interested in leaving reviews as these quick-plays are often ten to twenty minutes long and not worthy of leaving a full review.
I do feel that these are appropriate to determine if the game is one that I enjoy and would like to play again.
These reviews are for myself.
Often times when I look at a game name, icon, and store page I can’t remember if I liked the game or not, so these mini-reviews will hopefully help with this.
Here is one that I left recently:
| Title: | LEGOยฎ Star Warsโข: The Skywalker Saga |
| Time before play (H): | 3.7 |
| Time after play (H): | 4.4 |
| Recent play session: | 0.7 |
| Summary: | LEGO game. Lots to unlock |
| Highlights: | Tons to discover and unlock |
| Lowlights: | Some dead zones and not a big fan of Star Wars. |
| Learning Curve: | Low, just need to figure out what unlockable charactes can do the various stage parts. What does that gun icon stand for? |
| How likely to return: | 100% One of the highest rated classic LEGO games. |
If the game is one that I do not like, I will have left notes about why I did not like it for my future self.
I also then mark the game is private so that it does not appear on my public Steam collection. This blocks the random picker from being able to see and pick the game for me later.
After this I hide the game which makes it not appear in my own Steam Library.
There is a Hidden folder that contains these games that can be browsed through, but it removes the dud games from default visibility.
Over time only the best games will be left to be picked by the randomizer and by browsing my collection.

Sometimes Keanu cuddles with me while I’m gaming.

Today we played tabletop games with friends again, this time in Harlem.
We brought our copy of Euphoria and we also played a few rounds of Codenames.
I also sent a postcard to Taiwan today.

On this card I discussed Hobbitsville, which is an urban legend in the city I used to live in.
There is an old house that has a neglected back yard with an Olympic sized pool and and abandoned well as well as dilapidated fountains.
Folks tend to hop the fence at night and sneak around here.
I may have done this a few times myself.
Allegedly.
