๐Ÿ’ธ Oceanic Money Has Been Sent To Michigan

Friday December 20th, 2024

I still have a stack of letters to write.

These come in a booklet and they are a nice choice when a postcard doesn’t have enough room for the message I want to send.

I could probably insert flat items such as book marks in one of these.

The downsize is that I can’t use cheap postcard stamps on these.

Speaking of postcards, let’s send some onpostcrossing.com!

This lovely card is on its way to The Netherlands.

And this postcard is off to Japan.

On this postcard I discuss my visit to WaterFire which is a fantastic event in Providence, Rhode Island.

I also receive a postcard from Hungary and another from Russia.

For the evening adventure we refer to one of our books which suggests eating an appetizer, entree, and desert, but at three different sit-down restaurants.

First stop: Appetizers. Crab Rangoons.

For the entree I have a chicken sandwich. (I forgot to take a picture.)

And for desert we have ice cream cones.

This is nice. I suggest trying this some time.

This would be fun with a group of friends.

Tonight I also try a newly released MMORPG titled Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. This game uses a style of play that is similar to older MMO games, specifically Everquest.

A delightful game, though it is still early in production.

Statue of Liberty postcard sent to Germany where I discuss visiting the mammoth dig site in Waco, Texas.

I have a page of Wreck This Journal that I’ve been meaning to complete for some time.

Tonight is the night.

This page is no longer in my collection.

Today I am sending a postcard to Germany.

The topic of discussion is super taster test strips.

You can buy little pieces of paper that have chemicals on them that taste different to different folks

There is one that may taste like nothing or it may be sweet or bitter.

It’s interesting to share them with a group and see the various responses.

Today I also sent a postcard to India. This is a delightful art card. On the back of the card I discuss moving to NYC and not having a car.

I take a quick trip into a post office in Manhattan to see if there is anything interesting. I don’t know what I thought I would find, but what I did not expect to see was a clock on a clock.

Tonight we see the musical: Teeth.

Wow.

That was a wild ride.

Certainly worth the viewing.

Don’t bring the kids.

I can see by the picture on my phone that I made gluten steaks on this day.

This image is taken before cooking.

Also of note, my partner Lauri is playing Stardew Valley and she has requested a name for a new chicken.

I share that my brother once named a chicken George Washington and so this chicken received the same name.

There is a burger shop in Astoria called SLDR that I have always wanted to visit and today is the day!

Behold the burgers and shakes!

Delightful.

The weather outside today is fantastic!

Going for a quick walk to Hallett’s Cove Beach.

I’ve been by here plenty of times, but this is the first time that I’ve noticed that the Roosevelt Island Lighthouse can be seen from here.

Today is another day of sending Tony postcards that are not postcards.

I have taken this game advertisement from a local game store and have turned it into a postcard for my pal Tony.

I discuss waiting for a bus.

The bus does arrive.

Proof:

By the way, if you come to NYC you probably shouldn’t bring any bills.

The plan for today is to visit a park in Queens.

My lovely partner made me a book of the parks she believes that I will enjoy the most in Queens.

This is similar to the national park passport book because I love a great collect-a-thon.

Please enjoy some pictures of my walk to the park and of the park.

Someone has abandoned their dock here.

You can see the moon phases when you’re closer.

See how the texture changes on the right side of the dome?

Beyond the park, and following the coast, there are plenty of other sights to see as well.

Great timing, too. I get to see a drawbridge in use!

Check out this awesome bike rack.

Also, I guess folks tie up their boats here.

Or are these abandoned?

Time to send the postcard.

While I was at the park I had the opportunity to help a tourist with figure out which way to go on the ferry.

It’s nice to feel useful.

Before heading home, it’s time to use a gift card to my favorite game store in NYC: Twenty Sided in Brooklyn.

Oh, there’s a place I want to ask if I can host some tabletop gaming in, but I haven’t had a chance to ask the stores inside if it would be allowed.

Check out this haul!

Y’know what?

This has been a particularly great day.

Let’s end it with some fantastic pizza.

Oh, and I should put my name on the front of the park book that my partner made me.

A postcard to Michigan for my pal Tony!

Lately I’ve been using these Tony postcards as a place to practice drawing.

Sometimes when I’m out wandering around I see things and I like to come up with fictional stories about why something is the way that it is.

I notice while waiting for a bus that some of the rings on this fence have rusted out, while others remain intact.

Perhaps something terrible has happened here and the spirits from beyond are attempting to pass a message by selectively damaging these rings.

Or perhaps these are holy wards to keep out demonic creatures, but they are no longer functioning. This leaves the sacrosanct item inside is at risk of being captured!

I like to daydream.

Here’s an unusual piece of mail that I received today.

It requests data about fishing and water quality and it has two single dollar bills packed in here as well.

Fresh bills from a new stack of bills.

So I did what any person would do and I logged them on WheresGeorge.com and then mailed them to friends in another state with a request to also log the bills and then pass them along to someone else.

They fit nicely into these envelope paper letter things.

I need to seal up the sides of these so that the bill doesn’t fall out.

I can see it poking out in the image above.

Much better.

Bills sealed and cool S’s attached.

I did complete the survey, by the way.

I do love to see science working.

2024 has been a year of adventures and I look forward to seeing more in 2025.

Here’s a video of Penny hiding under a blanket.
