๐ŸฆƒMacy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanksgiving – Thursday November 28, 2024

Today will be cold.

It will be wet.

And we have nice tickets to a seated area of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The day starts off very early as we’ll we need to be in line by a certain time and because the busses and trains are a bit slower at this hour of the morning.

Despite leaving early and arriving early, our line is about a block and a half long when we arrive.

We stand here for a long time. Long after the time listed on our tickets says we’ll be allowed entry, but we get make it in and our ponchos are doing their job.

We’re at the beginning of the parade. Just a few blocks up the road is where the parade begins.

We have sort-of a sneak peak at upcoming floats as they line up down the road waiting for their turn to begin their trek through Manhattan.

Despite all of the escorting and watching to get into the seating area, it’s a free-for-all once we arrive. So we grabbed some nice seats up front.

I just hope no one tries to stand in front of us. There’s room, but I would really prefer to sit.

I suppose this is the risk with taking seats at the front.

Sitting in the back would have a better view and folks standing are less likely to be an issue. Something to keep in mind.

Cold and wet selfie time!

See the joy on our faces.

I’m kidding, of course.

This is a rough morning.

Standing in line, unclear open times, rain, cold, and some tourist behind us keeps making weird jokes about everything he sees.

He shouts “Pop a wheelie!” to the NYPD on motorcycles in front of us more than once.

But despite all of these small annoyances we’re here.

We made it.

We scored tickets. We got in. We have amazing seats.

Plus it’s Thanksgiving.

I am thankful to be here and for the nice view of the parade which is just beginning!

Oh. Clowns. I wonder if I could get a high five from one?

To cold to think about this now.

Sesame Street!

What the heck?

There’s scared bananas for some reason.

Ohhhh. It’s because they’re being chased by Minions.

Look into the minion’s eye!

More New York stuff like Taxis.

Not pictured because the joke took me to long to get is a NYPD officer looking at two phones.

There’s a whole book of NYPC cops just staring at their phones, so it’s kind of a thing.

*sigh*

I used to work for Wonder Bread.

I have complicated feelings about seeing this.

Oh, it’s the Grimace. The savior of Queens’ baseball team.

Oh, more clowns are coming. I’ll try to get a high five picture.

“Let’s get a selfie!” says the clown.

“Yes!” I say and then fight with my wet phone to pull off this stunt.

I took a lot of mistake pictures, but this lovely clown was patient and I am grateful to have this amazing picture.

More clowns!

Gary! “Meow.”

This five is too high for me, I’m afraid.

This next photo feels extra New York.

Oh hell yeah!

Ninja Turtles!

It’s really starting to get cold and despite our best efforts we’re also very wet.

Toys R Us?

How do they have a float?

No hate. I love Toys R Us. Surprised to see them here, though.

(sick keytar)

Despite our best efforts, it’s officially too much to stick around.

One more float and we’ll begin to work our way out of here.

We ended up crossing the street in front of T-Pain’s float.

Time to head home to dry off and warm up.

Penny says “Hi.”

Penny also says “This is serious business.”
