I found a Seventh-Day Adventist store in Queens!

“What is a Seventh-Day Adventist store and why does this matter?” you ask?
Well, my friend. Seventh-Day Adventists have the best food.
Specifically a salty little item called Wham (which has been renamed “meatless ham” or something).
Unfortunately this store that carries my delectable Wham closes shortly after I get off of work, so I need to move fast to make it to this store before they close. I jog the last few blocks.

Luckily the workers are super cool and stay open a little bit late so that I can complete my purchase.

I load up a few other food items as well.
In case any SDA food lovers read this who, like me, also miss Nuteena, there’s a great product out of Europe called GranoVita Nut Luncheon.
Here’s a pic of my view of Aurora Borealis from Queens.

Here’s a fancy chocolate place we visit in Manhattan.

Heads up, the vague descriptions of the images above are because they’re a bit out of order.
I’m learning how to import my photos from my new iPhone to my Windows laptop (and then convert and compress them so that I do not use up all of my blog storage space).
Time to send a postcard to my pal Tony in Michigan from Central Park.

There’s a lot of interesting nooks in Central Park.

We have some nice food and drinks at Bloom’s Tavern.

For the second time we visit The Twenty-Sided Tavern for a live Dungeons & Dragons show.

The core of the adventure is the same, but the characters and plot points diverge greatly.

That is to say that the core bits of this viewing were similar to our first show, but so many things were different it felt like a new show.
Plus we dragged along a couple of pals for this adventure.

We had a good time.

Until after the show when we saw this.

I think Mr. Potato Head had a mid-life crisis. (And got himself some Botox).
We also took a trip up to the High Line.

And a roof-top bar.

I also checked off a NYC item by seeing folks shooting dice in front of an apartment building.

Today we spend $25 to visit the Statue of Liberty!
It feels cliche, but it’s a National Monument, which means it has a stamp and sticker for my National Park Passport book.

Remember to never buy tickets in person from someone on the street.

Buy tickets online or at the other nearby national monument Castle Clinton.

From Manhattan you board a ferry, travel to the Statue of Liberty for you visit, then you board the ferry again for a trip to Ellis Island (another location for a passport stamp and sticker) and then finally another boat ride back to Manhattan.

See that little pin in the distance? That’s the Statue of Liberty.
I love New York ferries.

On this boat they toss ropes to the dock.

Where the… Um. Walking plank things connects is a bit wobbly as the ship is rising and falling with the waves.

I lined up to exit early rather than trying to get pictures of the statue from the boat ride.
On that note, if you want to see the Statue of Liberty for free you can take a free ferry ride to Staten Island that goes right by it.
That’s what I did the first time I visited New York.

First, we check out the gift shop.
I’ll definitely be grabbing some postcards while I’m here.

Postcards purchased as well as some small gifts for my partner in crime.
Time to see the statue.

But first I visit the museum to grab my park stamp.
On my way to the statue I see the biggest maple leaf I’ve ever seen.

Oh, and an impressive statue, as well.

There she is. Lady liberty.
I didn’t buy tickets to go inside of the building (or the hat) so I will now head to Ellis Island.

There are a bunch of old hospitals here.

I was told that I couldn’t visit these, but I did see some folks wandering around over there.
I did not snitch.
I took a lovely tour at this museum and learned about the hope and hardships that many of our early immigrants faced.
Also I got my park stamp.
Back to Manhattan!

Bird on the boat.

Now that I’m back on work island let’s head to Castle Clinton.
It is at this point that I discover that tickets can be purchased in person here.

Another passport stamp gathered.
That’s three so far for today.
Y’know what?
My map of stamp locations says there’s a fourth location nearby.

I make a quick trip to the basement to use the bathroom, but also because I want to see the basement.

Four stamps acquired.
Time to head home.

Well…
I can squeeze in a bit more time to look at these.

Cool stuff.
It was a good day.
Penny says “Hi.”
