๐Ÿ˜ก I Was Someone’s Rude New Yorker & Broadway Shows

Saturday September 7th, 2024

Today we are seeing Hadestown on Broadway!

There is much debate about whether or not to look up info about the show in advance, but since I know almost nothing about Greek mythology I looked up the story of Orpheus and Eurydice in advance.

I am very glad that I did this, but not for the reason I expected.

I absolutely loved this show.

I was in the zone and it made me cry, but I would have cried a lot more if I didn’t know it was coming.

I was very close to the sobbing level of crying.

After the show we hop on a bus to head uptown for some dinner.

There’s a lot of folks getting on the bus and the front half is clogged with people standing together blocking the way.

I was a bit annoyed and I didn’t want anyone to have to miss this bus because some jerks couldn’t be bothered to make room so I just kept saying “Please let me through.” and moving forwards.

One lady was very frustrated and in a British accent accused me of being rude.

A few bus stops later some folks got stuck on the bus and missed their stop because of these same jerks.

This is the first time I get to be someone’s rude New Yorker.

If you come to New York, please keep the trains, busses, ferries and sidewalks moving.

Don’t stop walking as you get to the top of the stairs or after you exit a turnstile, please.

Mmm. Ice cream.

The big plan today is to go see The Book of Mormon

Per usual, we stop by 30 Rock to use the bathroom.

Book of Mormon is a fun and funny show.

I am particularly excited to learn today that the G train is back up and running.

The one train that connects Queens & Brooklyn without going out of the way to Manhattan.

I should go to Brooklyn more often.

Today we send a postcard to Austria.

I discussed about how talking about postcrossing.com with strangers has spread awareness. I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten at least 5 new people to sign up, though this was never my intent.

I received a postcrossing postcard from China today as well.

I have to sign for it.

This is a first.

This card doesn’t say much on it, but there is a stamp that says “Literature for the blind.”

I wonder what this has to do with the postcard.

A postcard from Belgium!

A postcard from Russia about the seasonal change to Autumn.

This toucan postcard below is one that I sent to Japan where I discussed how sometimes people in my neighborhood shoot fireworks at the local bell tower.

Of course I sent a postcard to my pal Tony in Michigan about my new job.

Today an ambulance was going down the road near where I live and the driver was not taking any nonsense.

He got on the loudspeaker and said “What are you doing? Get out of the way.”

I cuddled with cats.

I sent an old Austin postcard to Germany.

Today we go to a food festival.

We have our tickets purchased and we heard that last year’s festival was a good one.

We head into the city early so that we can take the ferry over to Manhattan.

Spent a little bit of time poking around Roosevelt Island.

We skipped the food festival.

Well, we showed up.

Our tickets were for a specific entry time and after standing in line for two hours and missing the window, we just left and filed a chargeback for the tickets.

Being surrounded by hundreds of confused and angry people who can’t get in is not the makings of a good day.

Some goldfish in orange juice cheered me up. (Oh hey, the Hadestown playbill. I loved that show).

The cats judged me.

Probably for eating goldfish in orange juice.

Some folks online were entertained by this picture.

A postcard to China!

On this postcard I told the story about the sand dune sledding adventure and camping in the desert.
