Today we travel to Philadelphia.
I will be taking a Peter Pan Bus for the first time.

The bus station has one of these ball things.
I love these.
While I wait, I will finish a postcard that I had started to write for Tony a week or two ago when I thought the train was late, but then it showed up on time.

Go down two levels and get in line for my Peter Pan Bus.
Big thanks to the helper at the entrance for easy and concise directions.

There were about 15 of us in line to take the bus to Philadelphia, but another nearby line called out that they were boarding for Philadelphia and so another lady and I got out of line to investigate and the fellow over there explained that he’s not helping us because we bought tickets to the competition.
He was just messing with us and telling us we were in the correct line and that his line was for a different bus company.
Peter Pan is very straight forward.
Wait in line. Scan your ticket with the driver. Throw stuff under the bus if you need to. Take a seat. Ride.

My only complaint is that the outlet doesn’t work.

Back to postcarding now that we’re moving.
This gem of a Backstreet Boys card is being sent back to Austin, Texas to one of my former co-workers.

Success!
I have been dropped off at a random place in the middle of Philadelphia.
Time to find the train station so that I can catch a ride downtown and make it to a Benjamin Franklin tour that will be led by a park ranger.

It would have been faster if I walked. 😡
The train is super late and on the wrong side and none of this was documented well.
It’s too late to use a ride app for a pickup as well.
I’ll just go as quickly as I can and hopefully I’ll make it on time.
Yo.

Okay, it looks like I’m going to make it on time, but there’s a guy who looks like he’s falling out of a wheelchair.
I’ll go over and help.
Why are his pants down?
“You need help?”
“No, I’m okay.”
So I continue walking.
Why were his pants down?
I think he was pooping in the grass.
No hate.
10:28. I make it to my 10:30 tour appointment!
Today Ranger Tom will be teaching us about Benjamin Franklin, but about his time and work in Philadelphia rather than his work with the nation as a whole.

First stop: The grave of Benjamin Franklin.

It is a simple grave, though it is covered in pennies.
This is due to his saying “A penny saved is a penny earned.”
He started a volunteer fire fighting group.
This is why his face is adorned on the side of a firehouse in the area.

Speaking of firefighting, the buildings here have the fire insurance symbols on them.

This is a great tour and if you’re ever in Philadelphia, I would suggest attending.
As we are at an old post office, I will be looking around and possibly buying some stamps.

Oh! They have a hand cancellation stamp!

The postal employee saw my excitement and stamped a piece of paper for me. 🥰

Time for my next visit. The Wagner Museum.
I booked a visit in advance for free.
The trains and busses here take credit cards which is a big relief.
I don’t need to fight with a ticket machine or install an app on my phone.
Interesting. They open the emergency exits on the busses for air flow here.

Oh! And I did get stamps at that post office!

The Wagner Museum.

It turns out that this was meant to always be available for free to anyone who wants to visit which is why it was easy for me to get a free reservation.

This is a very old building with many artifacts on display.

There is a lecture hall that is off limits to enter.

They also have some scavenger hunts for kids, but I’m going to do one.

A Kiwi!

This guy looks like he’s about to tell me a dumb joke.

So many amazing things here to see.

I was able to successfully complete the children’s scavenger hunt and I got a sticker for my efforts which I placed on a very old postcard that I will send to Tony at some point.
Oh heck.
I was in such a hurry to make it to the tour that I forgot to stamp my national passport book.
Back to the national park building!
The show all of the stamps on a display here.
That’s nice.

Rocky is also on display.

What a start to the day.
It is now time to get a Philly in Philly.
I don’t have enough time to head to the best place way up North, so I’ll visit the highest rated place that’s withing walking distance.
And this place only sells pizza.
I can’t eat a whole pizza.
I’ll just grab a Philly at the place next door.

I’m zooming in super far so that you can’t see the name of the place because this Philly is not great.
It isn’t bad either, but I’ve had better Philly sandwiches in Nebraska.

Time to get back to wandering around Philly.
I could go for a coffee.
This sign looks neat.

Ahhh. Coffee time.

I’ll send another postcard while I’m here caffeinating.

I’m not going to be able to make it to the other national park that I had hoped to visit.
Forgetting to get my stamps at the first park added too much time, so new plan!
Um.
Wander around a used book store!
They have a Babylon 5 VHS.

If you’ve never watched Babylon 5, please give it a shot.
Start with season two.
This town is historic and some folks have a sense of humor about it.

I have decided to go to Fringe Fest.
There is an event titled The Holy Church of Bezos.
Say no more.
I’m in.

Hahaha, this show is amazing!
It’s a church service for capitalism and online shopping.
Absolutely hilarious.
I drank the coffee blood of random employee number 75 and ate of his donut-hole body.
It is now dark and I must find my way home.

Long story, but I missed like 4 subway trains, and an Amtrak that I paid for because Philadelphia listed the subway line that I needed at a bus stop.
Trains don’t stop at bus stops.
Why would you list the train on the bus stop, Philadelphia.
I also ate a much better Philly sandwich in an alleyway while wiping grease off of my arm and stressing about finding a way home, but I did eventually get a Flix bus. Or Greyhound.
I forget.
The bus wasn’t marked.
Luckily I asked the bus driver which company he was with otherwise I’d have missed this one too.

A great single day adventure!
The Holy Church of Bezos being the big highlight.
Oh, and the Amtrak train that I missed had an hour long delay after departure, so it’s good that I caught a bus instead.
Hahah, damn it!
Even now that I’m back in New York these missed rides don’t stop.
My train was running late and I wasn’t able to catch the last bus to take me home.
It’s less than a two mile walk.
It’s fine.
I had a good day.
Feeling a little bit sick after powering down that second Philly (which was amazing, by the way), but it was a good day.
This blog post is over!
Thank you for reading it!
The next post is about a thing I went to and almost broke down sobbing in front of a bunch of strangers.
See you on the next post.
