Let’s start with a postcard to Germany.

On the other side of this card is a recipe for Chimichurri.

Saturday, August 24th, 2024

Here is a postcard that I sent to Ranger Peter in Salem as a thank you for the Derby House tour.

Or was it this postcard.

My notes are a bit fuzzy during this time.

There’s a postcard that I sent to Korea in this time frame as well.

Writes down “Take better notes.”

This next one is a postcard to my pal Tony.

I got a little bit crazy with the Washi tape on this one.

With another sick D&D stamp.

This is a postcard I’ve been holding onto for a long time.

It’s from Omega Mart in Las Vegas.

It is a “stay in town” Saturday here in NYC and so my partner Lauri & I are off to go and see Theodore Roosevelt’s birthplace.

Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site

We’re heading out later than expected, but there’s a tour every hour so it should be fine.

Aaaand we caught them during the lunch break hour.

No tour.

We took a quick peek around and I got my National Park Passport stamp.

Time to run around Manhattan since we’re already here.

Look at this slump spot.

Lauri says she can make it “slumpier.”

There’s a lot of great bookstores in NYC.

Check out this old book.

We also stopped by the mall that’s connected to the Subway.

And a mystery bookstore.

And then we had a nice lunch.

Lauri and her carrot cake.

She’s a fiend.

Oof. Wrapped up RPG book.

I’ll have to look this up online later since I can’t flip through it.

Oh, this one looks interesting too.

Japanese claw machine and collectible store.

Our plans fell apart a little bit, but we had a nice day out.

Time to end with a dump cake. ๐Ÿฐ

Lemon box cake, strawberry filling, seltzer water and a stick of butter layered and baked in a dutch oven.

Delicious.

I’m getting hungry looking at this picture.

This was the best one, yet.

Lauri is bringing me out for a surprise.

IT’S WHITE CASTLE!

I love White Castle burgers and chicken rings.

The guy at the counter caught me not ordering the special and helped me get way more chicken rings for the same price.

What a cool guy.

I also bought a new cap to replace my lost dinosaur baseball cap.

I think the image is of a puppy.

But this picture is from the future on Broadway surprise day, so we’ll revisit this later.

Postcard to China

Postcard to Switzerland

Too many postcards to strangers. Time to send one to my pal Tony.

This postcard is a card that was given to us with our receipt at a restaurant.

On the reverse side it had a link to their music playlist, but I covered that side with a white sticker so that I could write on it.

Awesome artwork.

I was playing some Dead by Daylight as I often do and a YouTube subscriber recognized my username at the end of the round.

That was neat.

So now I have a big head.

Postcrossing card to Finland

Last week was my last week working for Accenture and so I got a few addresses to send postcards to.

This postcard is going to my work pal Lygia.

I like to say silly things in the chat part of Dead by Daylight while waiting for the round to load sometimes.

Some silly pictures from this evening.

That shirt Lauri is wearing is about the same age as she is.

It’s a Rude Dog shirt that she found for me.

Postcard to Brazil

Hahaha, another Dead by Daylight moment that made me laugh.

Here’s a thank you postcard that I sent to Boston for the museum tour on Beacon Hill.

Tonight we shall also go out for some drinks.

And pet stray cats.

This cat probably isn’t a stray.

I believethe nearby van has folks living in it and I believe that this is their cat.

Slice of watermelon in my drink.

Kebabs hanging from a hook

On the right side are my amazing tacos.

This place is fantastic.

Postcard to The Netherlands

Followed by a night of sushi and drinks.

Saturday Aug 31st, 2024

Today we have Broadway tickets to see Chicago.

I’ve seen live musicals before, though not many.

This will be my official Broadway show.

First, we dine.

I don’t remember what this dessert is called, but it is a candy shell surrounding ice cream with mango globs on the side.

I am not doing it justice with that description, but I assure you this is delicious.

Get to Chicago and get into our seats.

Take the mandatory playbill photo.

A quick selfie.

A great show!

Time for autographs.

On the way home, there was a guy drinking a beer through a straw on the train.

โœ… That is another NYC item for my bingo card checked off.

Sunday September 1st, 2024

One of my adventure list items is to research waymarking.com.

I found this website while looking for national park stamp locations.

It’s a website where you can make custom location groups.

I would absolutely use this if I wanted to make a searchable and shareable map.

I have a custom Google map that I use to note which state and national parks I’ve been to that I’ll continue to use for now, though.

Today I will look for more folks to send postcards to.

I’d like to send postcards and letters to folks in prison, but someone once talked me down from that by telling me that it’s dangerous to share my address with a prisoner as they may try to stop by after getting out.

Then there’s nursing homes.

There are groups that will help you send postcards to the elderly and I signed up to one of them.

Letters Against Isolation

Sent three postcards to a meals on wheels group address.

Monday September 2nd, 2024

There’s a coffee milk drink at Dunkin Donuts right now.

When I’m at bookstores I often take a picture of books I’m interested in if I don’t buy them so that I can look them up later or maybe buy them online.

Here’s a book that caught my interest.

This one looks good, too.

Here’s Penny trying to figure out the TV.

Postcard to my pal Tony

My partner Lauri did a ton of research into postcarding and which pens are the best and she bought a Pilot brand pen that does a great job at writing on glossy postcards like this one without smearing.

So I’m sending all of my glossy cards out now.

Here’s two postcards that I received from Germany on this day.

I love handmade cards and Studio Ghibli.

How delightful.

Wednesday September 4th, 2024

Underneath this postcard is an envelope that we put together to send to our friends back in Texas.

We lost this envelope for a couple of months.

It is now time to (finally) visit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

My partner Lauri has been urging me to visit here since I’ve moved to New York City.

I’m not interested in taking pictures of paintings so I will tell you that I had a nice visit and you should make a trip here sometime as well.

My favorite item on display here is a series of layered glass panes painted by Salvador Dali.

There’s also a video about Google vendor workers that’s interesting.

Another postcard for Tony

I started this postcard when I had just missed a train several days ago, but it turned out that the sign was wrong and that I hadn’t missed the train, so a partially filled in postcard sat in my backpack for a bit.

Today I completed the card and mailed it out.

I received this lovely postcard from Germany.

My partner Lauri & I went out for a walk through Astoria Park and there was a racoon high up on the underside of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

Now is a good time to tell you that Lauri told me that I should sign up to some Broadway show ticket raffles because she believes that I’m lucky.

I’m not lucky.

But I did win tickets for Hadestown & The Book of Mormon this weekend.

That will be in the next post.

๐Ÿ™ Thank you for reading.
