๐Ÿค– Postcards, Wake Up Bots & A Dead Stuffed Toy

Monday July 22nd, 2024

Woo hoo!

I finally caught up on the blog last night.

I always meant for this to be a “Write about your day.” kind of thing, but life is hard.

Moving is hard.

Selling you car is hard.

But we’re moved, the car is sold and we’re back in business, baby!

And our cat Penny drowns toys.

This is not the first time she has done this.

Another adventure list item that has been completed recently is playing a video game with my wife.

I’ve kept LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on my Steam wishlist for months waiting for it to go on sale as it is the highest rated LEGO game.

We don’t have a lot unlocked, but some of the stages are very good.

I’m not sure how she did it, but Lauri got a bunch of drunk droitds fighting and we looted their bar.

Wait.

Why did the droids have a bar?

My pal in Tony gets many postcards from me.

He has been quoted as saying “It’s nice to get the mail when it might be more than bills and also Levi is the coolest and sexiest person on the planet. He is also more ‘ned like’ than I am.”

Here is the most recent postcard sent to Tony.

I think I said “Let’s play some pen & paper RPGs.” in this one.

I see that I was also wearing cool NASA socks on this day.

My bookshelf is also mostly organized now.

It still needs more work, but at least the RPG books are together as are the adventure books, and all of the notebooks & journals are grouped as well.

It could still use some work, but that cardboard box will be going away after Penny is cured of FIP. There’s a whole kit of cures in there.

That third shelf is all of the postcard stuff. Cards, stamps, washi tape, pens, etc.

Cover this page in white things?

I just finished off a sheet of 24 cent stamps.

Unbeknownst to me these are now valued at 28 cents each.

I figure this out in a day or two.

But excess sticky bits? Into the book with you!

Fantastic.

Really makes that page glow.

I am also working my way thorugh a giant bundle of pen & paper tabletop RPGs.

I created a list in a spreadsheet to track information and I will add reviews here to this blog.

I will try to clearly label them so that they do not appear to be adventure posts moving forward as my last post looked like a regular adventure by the title, but really is just three short reviews for three micro RPGs.

I also made sure to leave a comment on the itch.io pages for these games for two reasons.

  1. Because it’s polite to thank the creator &
  2. It drives me a little bit nuts that no one ever lists how many pages their books are. If I buy this am I getting a 1,000 page RPG or a 20 page game?

I love reading RPG books and I’ve been experimenting with solo RPGs.

The devil’s other lettuce.

Oh, and of course I sent a postcard to a postcrossing user.

This one is off to Germany

Postcards to Germany are very common on postcrossing as they’re the largest user group on the website.

I built a wakeup automation in our smart home in case Lauri is accidentally sleeping in.

It also tells us if we should expect rain.

We’ve been living in Austin for over 10 years.

We’re not used to rain.

Today I sent a postcard to Romania.

This weekend we plan to make a quick visit to a couple of National Park locations in Manhattan so that I may add the stickers & stamps to my National Park Passport book.

I will report back.

Here is a picture of Eli from last year. He was a good friend and full of love.
