I recently purchased a pen & paper RPG bundle on itch.io and I’ve always kind of glossed over small RPGs & solo RPGs.
I’ve been trying to learn more about solo RPGs and how oracles work and now I’m going to combine them so that I can sample some of these micro RPGs as a micro adventure.
Game one: Welcome to Middletown

This game is currently unavailable.
I left a comment on another post by the creator and they have confirmed that this game is still in development and will be released soon.
Game two: Break Free

A Social Revolution Lasers & Feelings Hack
This is a two page hack for a RPG called Lasers & Feelings that I (probably) do not own.
A game where you play every day people in an unjust world seeking change.
Since I don’t own the base game Lasers & Feelings I was planning on skipping over this, but since I’m using a solo oracle d6 roll rather than the base game’s mechanics I decided to throw a few quick rolls and see what would come of it.
I accidentally stated on the second page and so I selected the location details of the game before the character, but this still works.
For the scope I select “city” (rather than “country” or “the world”)
Next we chose how many focuses for the cause between 1 & 3, I select “1.”
And finally the item to resolve. I select “corruption.”
Next we name the inspirational collective.
Um. “New York Integrity Commission”
This is when I realized I was looking at page two and so I move back to the first page and make a few rolls to determine the adventure
Our city’s threat? I roll a 6: A cruel pundit.
Who wants to: (roll of 3) Sabotage
The: (2) Working Class
Which Will: (4) Enable Abuse
And now the single oracle roll that will determine the outcome of the entire adventure.
Four, which is a result of: “Yes, but…”
And so the New York Integrity Commision defeated the cruel pundit Buzz Killington, but only after a terrible accident at Buzz’s sawmill killed five people.
I may have accidentally turned this into a Batman plot.
I’m glad I went back and looked through this in more depth rather than simply writing it off for including mechanics I’m not familair with.
Game three: Little Rituals

This was another game that I had planned on skipping as it requires the use of tarot cards, but I figure there has to be a website that will let you draw a random tarot card.
There is. I used this one.
This is a three page game that uses tarot cards & a single six-sided die.
And calling this a “game” may not be the best description as the goal is to find peace and self reflection.
Draw a card, roll the die, based on these two items you reflect on a topic in your life.
I drew a nine. There Hermit. Solitude, introspection, stillness.
I then used duckduckgo.com to roll a d6 which resulted in a “2.”
This makes the facet “The Day Past”
With these results I reflected on the events of the night before and when I felt solitude and I’m not going to go into the details, but I realized I had some toxic thoughts last night.
If it were not for this game I do not belive I would have spotted this.
And so I reflected on what led me to the moment, why I felt the way I did and how I can improve moving forward.
I was just playing along with this little game and ended up having a moment of improvement.
I did not expect this.
Peace fulfilled.
Thanks, game.
I occasionally head over to itch.io and look at the most recently added/updated physical games. (Link)
There are a ton of free small games like these and I would like to try more of them.
I have over 600 games to get through in this bundle, still.
Keanu says “This box is not correct.”
