๐Ÿ—ฝ Mother Neff State Park & I’m Moving to NYC

Mother Neff State Park – Moody, Texas

I woke up before my camera did on this day.

On the way to Mother Neff, I stopped for a quick meal at a Taco Bell.

This was a good Taco Bell visit.

BEHOLD THE BLAST OF BAJA!

I spoke to some folks at this restaurant about the area and sites worth visiting.

I took down notes about places of interest, but this was about two weeks before I discovered I would not be living in Texas much longer.

Before I share the visit to this Texas State Park I would like to inform you that I am moving to New York City.

Well, I now live in Queens at the time of this post, but this was not something that I was aware of on March 10th of 2024.

More on NYC later.

Texas state parks are like Texas highways in that they are always under construction & improvement.

This particular park has a modern headquarters as pictured above.

Delightful.

The primary goal of this visit is to hike and take in what the park has to offer along its trails.

The rock tower & the rental hall are very close together at this park.

I wonder what it looks like on the inside of this manhole.

My assumption is that it’s just a bunch of water, but I like to think that there’s structures for standing on and an old mini TV in there for watching “the game” away from prying eyes.

The top has a nice view.

I believe this is an overflow release pipe on the side.

Back to hiking!

Always love to see the wooden bridges.

And the view from the wooden bridge.

One small detail that I find interesting about Texas is that it used to be underwater and so you’ll find seashells everywhere.

Cave life.

I see that they reuse & repurpose the old signage around the park based on this fencing around this garbage can.

See the lettering on that post?

That’s cool.

Love to see waste reduced like this.

Lovely parking and restroom spot by the hiking entrance that I took.

A map, a pathtag & a racoon swag.

Here’s what it looks like when I try to figure out how far I hiked.

Several days after this visit to Mother Neff state park I received what is probably my favorite postcrossing.com postcard to date:

Love how they worked in the stamps and imagery together and then explained that the “God Save The Queen” comment is referencing a song.

But for real, this is truly creative and unique and I would love to attempt something like this with my own stamps and stickers in the future.

A few days later as part of work we went to visit SXSW in Austin, Texas and watch the interview with the CEO of Waymo, Google’s self driving cars.

I love skywalks.

Here’s a t-shirt that I was amused by.

Keanu tums.
