Yesterday, the 15th was a good day. I went through my adventure list and I tidied up a few things.

I believe that I now have a good list of adventure categories which will help with sorting when I want to narrow down a search or track data in the future.

There are currently 111 items on the list that I have not yet completed, over 15% of which are categorized as “Travel Far.”

These will be difficult to complete.

Luckily nearly 12% of the items are labeled “Travel Local.”

It is a good balance.

Most of the 18 categories involve small adventures that can be completed locally like Food, Craft, Gaming, Leisure & Work.

Postcards!

I sent a postcard to Czechia on this day, which my phone still thinks that I am misspelling.

On this card I discussed my previous job as a truck driver and that the back set of wheels on many trailers can be moved.

This is called “sliding the tandems” and is a way to balance the load so that a similar weight is on the wheels at the front and back of the trailer.

Having a lot of weight on one axle can damage roads and this is why there are weigh stations along state borders.

These help to ensure that incoming trucks are not damaging roads.

Note: It is often easy to simply take a back road to avoid these if you know where they are which is often a good idea even if your weight is perfectly balanced and legal.

Quick note, I see that I did not crop the postcard image above which means that I forgot to upload it to postcrossing…

2 minutes later

Okay.

Uploaded.

Back to blogging.

Gaming!

I finished learning Mythic Game Master Emulator second edition and I changed my focus back to learning Goblin Errands so that I may begin the solo RPG experience!

This is a delightful little RPG and I’m looking forward to playing.

My plan is to try one small adventure to get a feel for all of the mechanics that I will be using.

If I am happy with the generated adventure I may try to write it out as a short story.

I have completed most of the prep work for this. I have created a setting, three goblins, their kenn (community/home) and a few other loose bits of information.

I’m excited to see where this goes, but this is also the easiest time to give up on the process.

Lauri and I are beginning to do spring cleaning.

We’re trying to make it a point to clear out some items before bringing in new items.

As part of this we broke out a tabletop game that we purchased a while back. Choose Your Own Adventure: House of Danger.

This is a game that we have been avoiding because after reading the rules it seems like it’s just the book reprinted in a game format.

So we have a conundrum.

Give it away without trying it or risk wasting time on a game we may not like.

So we tried it

This game has five chapters, we completed two and then packed up the game and added it to the give away pile.

Not our jam.

It’s a nice game and it has a fun way of dealing with death, but if you’ve ever found yourself frustrated with a Choose Your Own Adventure book because it feels like your choices don’t have any weight to them and most likely lead to death, then you will face those same issues with this game, though the death situation is significantly softened which is a nice change.

Remus, Keanu & Penny say “Hi.”
