๐Ÿชง Which Park on Saturday & Librarian Postcard

Monday February 5th, 10:39 pm. Austin, Texas. ๐ŸŒ’ 51ยฐ F (11ยฐC).

Today I sent another homemade card to my pal Tony.

These were nice cookies that tasted like birthday cake and now they are a simple message to Tony.

Speaking of Tony, I sent him a homemade card made of a sandwich meat box and Tony confirmed that a. this sandwich does look smug and b. that he also has & enjoys this sandwich meat.

I also sent a card to a nice librarian in Germany.

I get a handful of my postcards from libraries, and so I sent this one after coloring it in a bit.

I probably should have colored in the building, but I really didn’t know what colors to use and chose to artistically leave it blank.

I recently discovered volunteer vacations and it’s killing me not to snag up the last spot at a nearby state park.

So they have jobs to visit and help rebuild bridges and tidy up paths, but they feed you and house you for the length of the visit.

It has a price, the one I looked at was about $500, but that’s still a cool experience and vacation.

Our life is a bit up in the air right now and I am unsure if we will be staying in Texas for much longer.

Plus money.

So this idea is on hold, but if this sounds cool to you check out https://americanhiking.org/

We also had a quick visit to REI tonight. We have two unspent gift cards at the moment and so we were poking around a bit. I’d love to buy a camp dutch oven or a gas grill, but we think that hiking boots would be a better investment.

So now I need to learn about hiking boots.

I know there’s a whole thing about wearing multiple socks and I need to figure all of that out and then try on some stuff. I always peek at the return items in hopes of finding some cheap boots, but no luck yet.

I wonder if I can get a pair on the cheap on eBay?

It’s nice to test something out to learn about it before going in for a full & expensive investment.

Oh yeah!

Saturday.

I almost published this without talking about the title.

On Saturday Lauri will be at a Kung Fu meet and so I will have the car to myself for most of the day.

I poked around at the nearby state parks to see if there are any events and there are a few, but two are too far away and several are too early in the morning, but I was able to find three that I can make it to to select from.

Saturday will be a short park & hike day.

I may stop by the Longhorn Cavern park for a quick stamp.

That one is primarily for cavern hikes and I’ve taken it once or twice already. I do need to get the stamp, though and they do have hiking as well.

And a sweet gift shop, if I recall.

It will be a good day. No plans for Sunday, yet.

My cup of coffee says “Ooooh. Hi!”
