Lauri planned a surprise hike for this day.

I am excited to see that we are going to a Travis county park.

I recently discovered that there are several county parks in Texas, some of which offer campsites similar to the way they are handled by Texas state parks.

We packed a lunch, drove to the location and picked a trail and had a nice chat.

Here’s a cool spider we saw on this trip.

There is a nice display that teaches about Chimney Swift birds at this park.

There is also a nice birding spot with a bench and a small self-filling bird bath.

Ye olde barn is also a sight that can still be visited at this location, though there are signs that say not to enter.

As this was the halfway point of our hike loop we sat down and we ate our picnic sandwiches.

After a quick lunch we continued on the path…

The wrong way…

We caught this mistake and adjusted to continue on the second half of the trail, but in the reverse direction than we had planned.

This led us to the creek area of the park.

From here the trail was washed out in places and would have been sketchy to attempt.

We did attempt to find an alternate route, but we did not want to damage the park by attempting to make our own path and so we found a way to cross the creek and cut over to the return path.

From here we made our way back to the barn and then to the car and returned home.

Back at home I crafted another postcard for my pal Tony, this time using a free one retrieved from the library.

These often have a lot of information on the reverse side which do not leave a lot of room to write, but then again they are free and meant to be used as advertisements. I wonder if this is an effective form of advertisement?

I also knocked out another page of Wreck This Journal on this day.

It was a good day of adventuring as a pair.
