The last time we checked in I was investigating a portal that I was pretty sure was evil, but according to my newly created demon deck this is not the case.

From here I have two options.

1. Attempt to make the deck more powerful by capturing a demon or

2. Try to figure out why a weird whispering portal is a. around and b. not evil.

Let’s go with option two. It seems like the safest bet, though my deck will have a lower success rate as it currently has no demons.

Look. I’m easing into this nonsense and also I’m at a coffee shop right now…

Let’s not get weird in front of the coffee patrons.

Okay?

First step in the ritual. I need a goal.

I would like to extend my senses so that I may better hear the whispers and/or to understand this portal.

Step two. One or two cards that correspond to my goal.

Um. Ace. Like “Ace in the hole.”

I need to know more about the hole. I mean “portal.”

And eight because it has two holes in it.

I don’t know what I’m doing and this is an experiment. If you know more about this, please let me know. I’m all ears.

Next: up to two demon cards. I have none, so zero demon cards.

Next: a focus. Something that corresponds to the thing. Um. A coffee cup? It has a hole and is currently available.

And finally draw a card. Red card = success, black card = failure.

Shuffle shuffle shuffle. 🎴

Okay…

Time to draw.

This is slightly less than a 50/50 chance (because two jokers are in the deck).

That was intense.

Dear reader. This is when shit got weird. I don’t know what I must have looked like in the moment, and I’m glad to say that I was tucked away in a back corner and that my wife was in the restroom because something inside of me changed.

I don’t know what, but I’m sure that when i get home I’ll figure it out.

Stupid spooky hole. I mean “portal.”

Well that can’t be good.

The world feels different now.

Maybe “feels” isn’t the right word, but something has changed.

I def need some demons in my deck and I need to investigate my home, but it is new year’s eve and I have parties to visit.
