I got a new solo RPG.
I have never (intentionally) played a solo RPG like this before and one of the aspects of this game is journaling and so I will be doing that here on this blog. Adventure.
The first step is “Who are you?”
What do people call you? Levi
What is your true name? Hork (I used the Arthurian name generator)
What is the community you are trying to protect? Remus, Keanu & Penny (our cats)
What matters to you? Freedom
What is going wrong right now? There seems to be a portal to another dimension somewhere in my apartment. This is a best guess based on strange whispers and shadows not behaving as expected.
Next step; update the jokers of the deck.
Apply two sigils to the back of the jokers and also write my true name on one. These must be kept within seeing distance of the deck at all times.
Complete.

I wasn’t sure if the metallic marker or sharpie would work best. I initially tried a brush pen, but it was far too wet and just left drippy bits behind.
Silver is fine, but I believe I’ll be using the classic Sharpie most of the time.
Next: fortune telling, ritual work, trapping demons or hexes.
Let’s start with fortune telling to see if we can suss out the details of this potential portal.
Draw three cards and use the reference table to understand the meaning.
I will use the Path of Lies layout to better sus out what’s going on.

Card 1. What do I believe to be true?
King of diamonds: the dominant influence in my world
Card 2. Where is the lie?
Nine of diamonds: Good luck
Card 3. Who benefits from the lie?
Three of diamonds: Family
This potential portal has been my big concern, so this is the dominant influence at the time of this fortune telling. The lie is in my luck and this lie benefits my family.
It seems that this portal is not a curse but a blessing that can help the cats. It does not seem like a blessing at all, but we shall investigate further.
The portal whispers “Hi.”

We both heard it.
