The plan for Saturday was to get up early and drive to San Antonio to visit the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and get another stamp & sticker for my passport book…
We only bought one sticker instead of two. My wife remembered to buy hers & I forgot.
So I have purchased my sticker online and it will be placed inside of my book when it arrives.
Also we forgot our passport books and had to return home to grab them after about 10 minutes of driving.
Also also there are several locations for this national park and I went to the wrong one.

I bring this up because this plan was based around taking the ranger-led tour, which we missed. There was another an hour later, but by the time we made it we were a bit exhausted.

While we were in San Antonio we visited the river walk area to have a mourning margarita at Margaritaville for the passing of Jimmy Buffett and also so that Lauri could purchase a souvenir cup.
There were a lot of folks in cosplay for the nearby anime convention as well.

It was a nice time, but we moved on as the other big location which contained dinosaur tracks would take some time to drive to.
But bad news struck again.
Like many of these visits that I plan I want there to be surprise so I only loosely plot out the adventure without much research.
Unbeknownst to me the location of the dinosaur tracks is a 6 mile round trip hike which is an awful idea in a Texas summer.
Several people had already been rescued due to heat issues by the time we arrived, but thanks to this visit I learned several things.

1. Texas has a sticker/stamp book like the national parks.
2. I think that I want to get into hiking.
3. I purchased an activity tracker so that I can make charts and track my progress.
We did not purchase a sticker or stamp the book as we did not hike a single centimeter of any path here, but I do not feel that the drive & $6 entry fee were wasted as we gained knowledge.

Also; here’s an imprint of one of the tracks.
On the way home we attempted to stop in Johnsen, Texas to visit the national park there that started this whole ordeal as I need to get a sticker and stamp there again since I have upgraded to a new passport book, but I was not fast enough & also there were several speed traps that day.
Sunday
The plan for Sunday was a simple one: make noodles.
It was a success, though I did not take a picture of it. Homemade noodles are a bit gummy, but in a good way. I think we may focus on making noodles this way more often.
I also took a nice bicycle ride around the neighborhood. I was hoping to identify some plants, but the app was not giving me good readings. I may need a better system for this as I would like to learn more about recognizing plants, animals, insects and trees.

And finally, on Saturday the postcard from my friend Toby in The Netherlands arrived.
First to the key!

Despite many delays & failures it was a glorious weekend filled with adventure.
I am currently planning out a visit to Michigan for more adventure with my best friend Tony. Plane tickets & a rental car have been acquired. The goal is to have a small road trip filled with stupidity. Wish us luck.
