I recently purchased an ant farm online. I was waiting to order ants and to learn more until the farm had been delivered. Yesterday was this day.

Unlike the picture on the box this home uses white sand, not edible gel. I plan to feed my ants the regular way (fruit through a small hole), though I can see why the food gel would be an easy method.
My goal with this project is to start easy and potentially work my way up to a more difficult habit or a more unique breed of ant.
I was under the assumption that starting with a queen ant and 20-30 workers would be ideal, but upon further reading my tiny ant house is not enough to sustain the growth that a full kingdom might entail.
And so I have purchased a team of bachelors to be mailed to me to live in this new home.
More of a retirement home, really, as their boss (the queen) will not be around to give out any orders.
Perhaps I will install a tiny television and a tiny workout bench in this habitat as well.
The bad news for this method is that my ants will die and they will not be naturally replaced.
On the up side; this habitat can be expanded and there is a wonderfully diverse plethora of options to choose from if I would like to try again.
Thief ants? Fire ants? Carpenter ants? Mean poisonous Australian ants?
The option to gather my own local ants is also a possibility, though I would need to identify them and learn about them before attempting this. I know we have fire ants and some kind of tree ant in the area, but I do not know what they eat and if some sand smashed between some plexiglass would be a good home for them.
I will continue to learn more.
By random draw an adventure from Explore Every Day has been selected today.

And so a tree has been selected. Well… Two trees, really.

I attempted to learn what type of tree this is with a plant identification app, but my results were not reliable and so I will treat this tree like any good mystery and make up my own story for it.
First a name generator.
The Treant name generator had given us these gems:
Davaris &
Dorynore
Davarias on the left, of course.
These two have been conspiring to take over the neighborhood for years.
The plan is to use our electricity against us.
First to knock down some power lines, and then hack into & drain our bank accounts while we are attempting to make repairs to our infrastructure.
But there is a problem…
These two cannot agree on the best time to move forward with this plan.
Should they learn more about internet security updates now or should they just pounce while they have the skills to pull off this heist?
Should they wait for the economy to improve before unleashing their technological terror?
What if there is another housing market crash? Are they too late to pull off the heist?
This disagreement between Davaris & Dorynore has caused them to lie dormant for years and I suspect they may never make their move.
For now the neighborhood is safe.

Also, Keanu says “Hi.”

PS I have 67 quests completed on Duolingo this month.
Tomorrow I will complete two more and then stop.
