Wreck This Journal!

Good morning from Austin, Texas on August 10, 2023. It is currently 83ยฐ F (28.3ยฐ C) and the birthday of a family friend who joined us in our travels to Austin from the motherland; Nebraska.

On the 29th of July I removed this page, folded it, tossed it into a pocket and washed and then dried and then lost it.

On August 9th it reappeared at the bottom of a clothes basket with most of the page intact…

Wrecking successful.

Next on the list is paper chain.

Also a success. I have not tried to flatten this and hold it in place. I’m curious how long it will hold it’s form.

And finally I decided it was time to return the compost page to its home…

This one… It smelled bad. Also I had moved it from a sunny window to underneath the kitchen sink. This did not work as well as I expected. It is difficult to quickly compost a page and I often catch myself thinking about what steps could be taken to have part of the page “eaten” in a week.

My wife and I also had a discussion about burnout this morning as I have taken a few days easy lately.

Partly this is due to loss of sleep and partly due to a general malaise I’ve been feeling.

Something clicked yesterday and I jumped back in. I think that partially I need to just kick things off and run. When I get out of bed and do a couple of chores I’m excited to get to the good parts of the day.

When I decide to skip chores I feel unaccomplished and aimless.

I am working through this in my head so that I can better understand how to pack in a ton of fun without facing burnout.

Side note; Target is selling a Wreck This Journal knockoff book and it’s not very good, but I want it. I decided to pass on it, but next time I swing through the red and white mega mart I think that I will scoop it up.

Keanu says “Hi.”

Edit: I forgot to add the ugly stuff page. Another Wreck This Journal challenge complete on 8/9/23.
