I have been trying to decide what the best way to record all of my micro adventures would be which has led me to blogging.
I have also been working on what the best way to track the adventure data would be and I have decided to go with Google Sheets. [link removed]
And so the to-dos will be here so that I have control over tracking and marking off the tasks as well as taking notes for planning or for thoughts after the adventure.
The plan now is to gather pictures and stories and share them on the weekend for the previous week.
Leading up to this point I have joined postcrossing.com so that I may send & receive postcards from around the world. It’s an interesting setup and I have sent 6 cards so far. All of them to different countries.
I am maintaining a map of the cities that I send cards to here: [link removed]
I plan to also record where cards are coming from if this is possible. I haven’t added my return address to any of my cards as there is precious little space on a post card, so I don’t know if this will work. I will report back later ๐
I am nearly complete with my third attempt at completing a Wreck This Journal. This copy I bought on eBay for $4 and it was partially completed by someone named Bree. As I have lost my two previous copies of the book I figure this is fair and I have picked up where Bree left off. Currently there are 14 items left to complete and when this is done I will move on to Wreck This Journal – Now In Color which I purchased at a used book store. Two pages in this copy were completed already… Including the “Chew This Page” page… Gross. But to be fair I’m sure I’ll do plenty of gross things to this book myself. My goal for this next one is to be more “artistic” with it. I have watched some Wreck This Journal videos on YouTube and some folk really make them fancy which may not be wrecking them, but it looks nice. I have attempted to put more effort into my wreckings after seeing this and plan to be more elaborate with the next book.
And then there’s Everyday Adventures. This book is more complicated and there are at least two topics that we simply will not attempt to achieve, but we do plan to come up with an alternative for these items. For example we will not hitchhike and we will not attempt to create a flash mob. Partially because we have friends who got a legal record over a small and short flash mob. That is a long story, but we are absolutely not going to touch this task.
On the other hand there are other challenges in this book that are very difficult for many folks, but we are lucky to be in Austin where some of the more niche topics are possible. One example being to take a train to the end of the line. We have a small train here in Austin that we use sometimes to get downtown because parking at the train is easy, while driving and parking downtown is difficult. We’ve never taking it any further North than where we live, so going to the end on the North side to Cedar Park will be a fantastic adventure.
I am also on the search for other micro-adventures. I imagine there are websites and other books. I know that the author of Wreck This Journal has many similar books and I will likely attempt some of these as well, but other than these I don’t have any other similar books that I am aware of.
And so this will also be another micro-adventure. To find more adventures ๐
Please send suggestions. ๐โโ๏ธ

^The most recent Wreck This Journal page “Compost This Page” which was almost lost, but I was able to find it while documenting the remaining pages. This has since moved to a different flower pot and has been covered in coffee grounds.
